Back to school dates you need to know...

One week from tonight, students in Northwestern School District will be preparing for their first day of school – class starts Tuesday, August 30.

Here are a few key dates & events over the coming days & weeks to get on your calendars now:

August 23

·         From 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug., 23, Northwestern Elementary School is hosting “Popsicles under the Pavilion” for incoming kindergarteners and their families. The pavilion is directly in front of the elementary school.

·         From 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, freshman orientation is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

August 24

·         From 6:30 tp 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, sixth grade orientation will be held in Northwestern Middle School.

August 25

·         From 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, Springfield Elementary School is holding its “Kindergarten Kickoff.”

August 26 and 29 are teacher in-service days

August 30 is the first student day.

From 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6, Northwestern Elementary will hold open house.

From 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, middle school and high school open houses will be held.

On Tuesday, Sept. 13, a districtwide early dismissal will be in effect, in celebration of the first day of the annual Albion Area Fair. The middle and high schools will let out at 1 p.m., and the elementary schools will let out at 2 p.m.
