Thanksgiving Family Fun Night

posted Nov 8, 2017, 8:58 AM by Tammie Clinger
The PAW Mentors (Peers Assisting Wildcats) will sponsor a Thanksgiving Family Fun Night Saturday, November 18 at Northwestern High School. The event will be from 5-8 PM.  A Thanksgiving style meal will be served at a cost of $7.00 for adults, $4.00 for children 5-10 and free for children under the age of 5.  Tickets are on sale at all school district offices and flyers will be sent home with all of our students.

Families attending will have an opportunity to participate in free games and activities in the gym, as well as enjoy an area for kids activities and crafts.  There will be a bake sale, Chinese Auction and Bingo for small additional costs.

What exactly is a PAW Mentor?  They are a group of high school students under the direction of guidance counselor, Gayle Gollmer.  The group completes leadership training and then volunteers to support other Wildcats, primarily incoming Freshman. The Mentoring Program provides support for at-risk Wildcats by offering social, academic, and emotional guidance through peer mentoring.  The program is in its fifth year, but this particular event is the first attempt to get the community involved.

PAW Mentor MISSION STATEMENT is…To create a culture of being a Wildcat Family, where everyone at Northwestern is valued and accepted for who they are.

Please understand the main focus of the event is NOT a fundraiser.  The PAW Mentors would like the focus to center around a celebration of being thankful to be part of the wonderful WILDCAT COMMUNITY, which is why it is a Thanksgiving meal.  The admission cost will help defray the cost of the meal.  The proceeds from the Chinese auction, bake sale and bingo will allow for improvements to the PAW Mentoring Program.

If you are interested in attending, we would love to have you, your family and your friends join us.  If you are interested in volunteering in anyway, we would welcome you on board.  If you would like to donate to the bake sale or Chinese auction, please let us know.  Please contact Gayle Gollmer by email at or at 814-756-9400 x1274 with any questions.
