Northwestern High School’s cream-of-the-crop singing group Forte will go on a holiday tour this Friday, Dec. 9.
The first stop for the nearly 20-member chorus will be at Springfield Elementary School, 11911 Bond St., E. Springfield, for a question and answer session with fifth-graders. Forte will perform for the entire elementary at 10:30 a.m.
The group will then head to Girard where they will perform at 11:30 a.m. for residents at Battles Village, 203 E. Main St.
“My goal is to give students performance and teamwork opportunities that help to benefit the school and community, and to help them recognize the role of the arts in bettering communities,” said Forte Adviser and Northwestern School District music teacher Dana Kuhn, who has led Forte for five years. “Students get real-life application of in school learning of music that will help them grow as confident, productive and contributing members of society.”
Forte makes about 15 performances throughout the school year at various community events, churches and school functions. The group practices every Monday night.
