Members of the Northwestern High School Art Club are busy planning for the 11th annual Weekend with the Arts, set for April 29 through May 1.
Students and high school art teacher and art club adviser Nancy Chase are seeking businesses, artists and organizations to participate in the event.
“This event gets bigger each year,” said junior and Art Club secretary Cami Price.
The weekend features all forms of art by students districtwide and the community. There will be live music and theatrical performances, visual art displays, demonstrations, a classic car show, a rabies clinic and more.
Forte will perform, Drama Club will present “42nd Street Musical,” and food and consumer science students will sell homemade goodies. Clubs and organizations throughout the district will be showcased throughout the weekend.
“We provide art to the community. We provide a safe environment for creative thoughts and a good opportunity to help further interest in art,” art club member Heather Yochim said. “We create Weekend with the Arts so all students can display their art for the community, and we can get the community involved in art.”
Anyone interested in participating at the event with a table/booth, demonstration or performance is asked to contact Chase at 756-9400 ext. 1310.
